FINDING MYSELF
If we're honest with ourselves, we would admit to feeling confused or lost about our life's purpose and direction at some point.
You would also agree with me that as we endeavour to figure ourselves out, it seemed like the world had moved on and leaving us behind in our indecision about what we desire to do in life.
Growing up we all had that moment when we were asked about our future ambitions. Some of our responses were, "I want to become a doctor or lawyer when I grow up," or similar statements.
In my case, I initially wanted to become a newscaster. As I progressed into high school, I started to say that I was going to become a radio host or maybe a podcaster.
My interest in becoming a radio host was sparked by listening to the captivating Tosin Bucknor of blessed memory during our daily drives to school. I eagerly anticipated tuning in to Top Radio 90.9fm as most of the bus drivers would play it around 7 am every morning. I fondly remember those moments.
Tosin Bucknor of blessed memory was a huge inspiration to me. Despite not knowing what she looked like, I was thrilled by her voice and how excellently she described traffic updates and read messages from listeners across Lagos during the show. This made me also saw a possibility of becoming a Radio Presenter/Host.
Fast forward to when I got admission into University, I had waited for two years before getting my admission and I was happy with the new phase of my life but I was concerned because I had been given a course that did not seem to align with my dreams and passion of becoming a radio host.
I struggled during my time at the university. I enrolled in the course because I felt like I was running out of time and didn't want to risk staying at home for another year.
After graduating from university, I felt completely lost and unsure about what I wanted to do with my life. I had set aside my dream of becoming a radio host and instead decided to take life one day at a time. I focused on developing a skill and began my journey as an entrepreneur.
I have realised that whatever time and season I find myself in is the perfect time for me. No time is ever late for me to start out on a new journey so long I am fulfilled and happy.
At this stage of my life, I’m exploring a new path that has the potential to help me achieve my dreams. I'm truly grateful to God for this new path and purpose.
